Erie July Fourth
Community Fireworks Fund

Each year on July 4, we, as Americans, celebrate the birth of our great nation with festivities as diverse as the American people. There is always one thing, however, we all do at the end of the day – we all look to the skies for a fireworks celebration.

A display of patriotism and pride, fireworks have a way of uniting people – uniting a community. Sadly, Erie did not have a community July 4 fireworks display in 2011.

We think that we can change all that – and ensure that this Fourth of July tradition carries on for generations to come. Click here to read more.

About Us

Each year on July 4, we, as Americans, celebrate the birth of our great nation with festivities as diverse as the American people. There is always one thing, however, we all do at the end of the day – we all look to the skies for a fireworks celebration.

A display of patriotism and pride, fireworks have a way of uniting people – uniting a community. Sadly, Erie did not have a community July 4 fireworks display in 2011.

We think that we can change all that – and ensure that this Fourth of July tradition carries on for generations to come.

Given the economy and the need for local, state and national governments to control their spending, we can’t continue to rely on government to fund such activities. That means decisions need to be made – tough decisions.

We also understand that businesses are solicited relentlessly for financial or in-kind support for a host of worthy causes. Generally, it is the same businesses that are solicited time and again, and we can’t keep going back to the same well. The reality is that there is only so much a company can do. We need to look at solving some of these problems differently – and we can start right here.

The Erie Fourth of July Community Fireworks Fund is a charitable endowment fund arranged through the Erie Community Foundation for the express purpose of permanently funding a July 4 fireworks display for the citizens of Erie. Through one-time donations from area individuals and businesses, these funds (principle) will be invested. Each year, a portion of the investment earnings will be utilized to fund a community Fourth of July fireworks display.

The best part about this plan? It’s permanent, which means that through your one-time contribution, we can continue to light up Erie’s skies with community fireworks.

Donating is easy, quick and secure – and no amount is too small, so please help by giving what you can.
